Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche has given an update on the injuries of Nigerian duo Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Everton, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Dyche revealed that Awoniyi is on the road to recovery while Aina still requires more time to regain full fitness.
“Taiwo is on the grass and doing well, Douglas Luiz is close to getting back to training with us, Angus Gunn a bit delayed on that but getting better. Ola Aina still a bit of time yet,” he said.
Aina sustained his injury during the Super Eagles’ World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Bloemfontein and was subsequently ruled out of the World Cup play-offs in Morocco.
The fullback will not play for Forest in the Premier League until January 2026, as he was not registered for the competition following the close of the summer transfer window.
Awoniyi has been sidelined for three games due to a muscular injury. The striker is participating in light training on the grass and is continuing his rehabilitation process.
Both players have been included in Eric Chelle’s 54-man provisional squad for the AFCON in Morocco, which kicks off on December 21.
