Oyedepo: I won’t join politics even if you offer me $1bn
Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, says he will never get involved in politics, even if offered $1 billion.
Speaking at the church’s annual Shiloh gathering, the 71-year-old cleric charged members of the church to remain committed to their “divine assignments”.
“Partisan politics is off my calling. If you give me $1 billion to join politics, I won’t, because it’s off my course,” he said.
He asked members of the church to make impact and rule their world as part of “God’s end-time Army”.
“The world is groaning in darkness, but as embedded in Romans 8:19, the world is waiting for the earnest manifestations of the children of God.”
“The army of God is about to emerge to proffer solutions to national crises in the order of Joseph and Daniel. It is the day of what eyes have not seen or ears heard,” he said.
This is not the first time Oyedepo would speak about his non-interest in a political position.
At a leadership summit in 2022, the preacher had said he considered being Nigeria’s president as a demotion, vowing not to deviate from his pastoral calling.
He had said: “I believe in Nigeria and that’s why I am still here, and still praying for Nigeria. But I consider it a demotion if I am invited to become the president of Nigeria. I am called for a global impact. I saw this in 1984.
“Even the devil knows that you can’t be genuinely sold-out to serving God, and not stand out in life. Since 1976, I have never missed a change of story.
“I was 19 years old when I prayed to God not to let me leave a village the way I met it. So I was 19 when I encountered destiny. I have not been tired going out for God since 1976.”
