This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the command spokesman, CSP William Aya.
“The CP assures residents that the Command has put in place adequate security measures across the State to ensure the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the festive period.
These include deployment of adequate police personnel, enhanced patrols, intelligence-led operations, visibility policing, and strategic positioning of officers at worship centres, recreational areas, major highways, markets, and public places.”
He said that Personnel from conventional police units, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Motor Traffic Department, Safer Highway Patrol, and other tactical formations have been mobilized to maintain law and order, prevent criminal activities, and ensure a peaceful celebration.
He charged officers to conduct themselves professionally, remain courteous, and be firm but civil.
The CP urged residents to be law-abiding and vigilant, reporting anything suspicious to law enforcement officers.
He called for collaboration in protecting places of worship and community vigilance, urging them to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through emergency channels.
“The Kogi State Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property and will sustain proactive policing strategies for a peaceful Christmas,” he added.
