
Niger gov appoints new commissioners, others

The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has appointed a new Commissioner for Information, Obed Nana, from Tafa Local Government Area.
Obed replaces Binta Mammam, a former state legislator who served as information commissioner throughout Governor Bago’s first term in office.
The new state spokesperson was previously a director with the Niger State Environmental Protection Agency and formerly worked at the Nigerian Television Authority, where he honed his skills in information management.
The appointments were announced on Saturday in a release by the state government, which also listed 29 others assigned various portfolios.

The government release, bearing the seal of the Niger State government, stated: “The Governor of Niger State, Farmer Mohammed Umar Bago, has approved and released portfolios for the newly inaugurated commissioners, marking another significant step in strengthening the governance architecture of the state.
“He urged the commissioners to work collaboratively with their respective permanent secretaries, heads of agencies and other stakeholders to deliver impactful results for the people of Niger State.
“He further called on Nigerlites to extend their support to the new commissioners as they assume their roles aimed at advancing the prosperity and well-being of the state in line with the New Niger vision.”
