2027 election: Ex-gov Wada, Karimi boost grassroots support for Tinubu
Kogi state Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC) under the aigies of the Kogi Progressive Stakeholders Forum (KPSF), have resolved to take the battle to grassroot for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
This was disclosed by the chairman of KPSF, ex-governor Idris Wada in Lokoja on Wednesday during the inauguration of the group .
The ex-governor say the newly convened forum was established to mobilise and unite grassroot supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards successful prosecution of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second term bid .
Captain Wada added that the forum was designed to serve as a platform for collective engagement, consultation and mobilization at the grassroots level ahead of future political engagements.
He said inclusiveness remains a core principle of the forum, stressing that all party members, irrespective of status or interest must be carried along in the collective effort to strengthen the party and deepen democratic participation.
The chairman of the Forum therefore called on party members across the state to embrace peace, unity and internal cohesion, noting that only a united party could effectively support the president’s reform agenda and guarantee electoral success in the forthcoming party and presidential election.
“The essence of the meeting is to bring together all party members to ensure president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu pick the ticket of the party, and support him to be elected back to office in 2027 presidential election”, he said .
Earlier, the Vice Chairman of the forum, Alhaji Suleiman Baba Ali stated that the group is out to ensure unity within the party and plug all noticeable gaps for it to shine at the polls in the next dispensation.
While Baba Ali expressed optimism that President Tinubu will get overwhelming votes from Kogi electorate in 2027, he said President Tinubu’s leadership has continued to inspire confidence across the country with the necessary reforms in place .
He noted that the reforms being undertaken by the administration would ultimately reposition the country for sustainable growth and development.
However, Senator Sunday Karimi urged party members and supporters across the 21 local government areas of the State to remain steadfast, united, and focused on consolidating the gains of the party.
He said that collective effort at the grassroots remains key to electoral success, urging members to voice out their grievances and avoid dissention, as activities toward 2027 election draw closer.
“We know there are so many people in this state that are not happy, and if we leave them like that, we will not win 2027 elections. We want Mr. President to win and win well.
“We are not fighting anybody, but we are not pretenders. We are people that love Mr. President, we love Kogi and want to move the state forward.
“Voice out your grievances , there will be changes. When we have a situation where we can not tell each other the truth, then we are in trouble”, he said.
Also, the former Director General, National Productivity Centre, Dr. Kashim Akor who said many party members are aggrieved, but have no one to complain to stated that the forum has created an avenue for aggrieved members of the party to channel their grievances with expectation that it will be addressed.
Equally, Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Abutu Yaro enjoined members to turn out en mass for the ongoing APC e-registration exercise for them to elect the leader of their choice to represent the party .
He urged the stakeholders to return to their respective wards and communities, and mobilize more residents to join the party.
The highlight of the meeting was the endorsement of president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for second term in office by overwhelming votes from members to that effect.
The meeting of KPSF was attended by delegates from the three senatorial districts of the state, with members charged to carry out total campaign at the grassroot for president Tinubu to receive overwhelming votes in the party and presidential election.
