Golf View Estate hosts NUGA for homecoming tour
Golf View Estate, a premium residential development located in Abuja, recently played host to the Nigerian UK Golfing Association (NUGA) during its 2025 Homecoming Tour.
Renowned for its serene environment, modern infrastructure, and golf-inspired lifestyle, the estate has consistently championed initiatives that promote quality living, recreation, and community engagement, making it a natural partner for such a prestigious event.
The Homecoming Tour, a biennial tradition of NUGA, brings together Diaspora golfers from the United Kingdom and top Nigerian players for a multi-destination series across the country.
This year’s itinerary included Abuja, Uyo, and Lagos, connecting key golf clubs such as Ibom Golf Club in the East and Ikoyi Club 1938 in the West. The event provides members—some visiting Nigeria for the first time—with an opportunity to reconnect with their roots, foster relationships, and engage in charity and mentorship initiatives for schools.
While the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja was temporarily closed, the NUGA team maintained its Abuja activities, before moving on to Uyo, where top golfers from Port Harcourt, Bonny, Aba, Calabar, and Ibom GC competed in the NUGA Invitational Tournament. The association also participated in the Obong Victor Attah Golf Tournament, donating a trophy to honour the late Obong Bassey Inaunenyen.
A new highlight of the tour was the NUGA Invitational Golf Day at Lakowe Lakes, which brought together golfers from Benin, Ekiti, Ibadan, Tiger, Abeokuta, Ikeja, and Ikoyi. The event provided a platform for networking and collaboration between clubs, creating a foundation for future engagements within and beyond Nigeria.
Reflecting on the event, Ayo Oshowo, Past Captain and Chairman of NUGA Homecoming 2025, expressed gratitude to the sponsors, saying, “I would like to appreciate especially our sponsors (Golf View Estate and others) who made this trip a success.”
The tour also celebrated outstanding performances. Mary Commodore emerged as the overall winner in the female category, while Abubakar Umar claimed the top spot in the male category, alongside several other standout performances across multiple categories.
Lady G (Grace) emerged as the overall ladies’ winner with 69 net off 9, topping her category at –3 with 78 strokes. Happiness Uzowhue finished second, while Olumuyiwa Alabi placed third overall and won Men’s Nearest to Pin. Finella Una dominated both Ladies Nearest to Pin and Longest Drive, Dele Awomolo claimed Men’s Longest Drive, Chris Ehimuan took the Veterans category with 92 gross, and Soji Oguntonade recorded the Lowest Gross with 78.
Golf View Estate’s support and organisational excellence helped ensure the 2025 NUGA Homecoming Tour was both a sporting and social success, reinforcing its role as a hub for premium living and golf-inspired experiences.
