
Zulum: Borno LG Poll is a litmus test for 2027 elections
Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State and Deputy National Chairman, North, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, have described the council election as litmus test for the 2027 general election.
The governor, who voted at Ajeri 1 polling unit in Mafa central, said he was impressed by the turnout and peaceful conduct.
“You have seen the turnout, you know this is my hometown. So, my general assessment of the process is good. It is expected that the 2027 election will also be well.”
“This is a litmus test, and Insha Allah, in 2027, APC will win from the President down to each member of the state assembly. Borno is the home of APC, more so, I am a son of this town,” he said.
Casting his vote in Konduga at Kajeri polling unit Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman, said the massive participation reflects citizens’ growing confidence in democratic governance.
“The massive voters turnout is a clear sign that public trust in APC led administration. It’s a good sign of grassroot support ahead of the 2027 general election,” he said.
Dalori said he left his national assignment and moved to the state to exercise his franchise so that leaders to be elected will complement the efforts of President Tinubu and governor Babagana Zulum in providing dividends of democracy.
Senator Kaka Shehu, SAN (APC, Borno central) has described as fully credible the council election conducted across the 27 local government councils of the state.
Lawal cast his vote at his Lawan Asheik Alhaji Sadiq polling unit, Shehuri South Ward, Maiduguri metropolis.
“I’m also impressed with the voter turnout, in spite of the hard times, which shows that the electorate are committed to genuine democratic governance in Borno State and Nigeria,” he said, remarking, “for me, the election is credible.”
He commended the State Independent Electoral Commission for conducting a well-organized election, and the security agencies for enduring security, peace and order at all the polling units and across his senatorial district
Also, House of Representative member, Abdulkadir Rahis, who voted at his Wakil Hassan polling unit, Gwange 1, Maiduguri metropolis, said, “after from its credibility, what impressed me most about the election is its rancour-freeness and the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere which prevailed across my constituency.”
