Bundesliga club Mainz on Wednesday sacked coach Bo Henriksen, with the side stranded at the bottom of the table after just one win this season.
The 50-year-old Dane took over Mainz in February 2024 with the club nine points from safety and beat the odds to keep them in the top flight, losing just two of their final 13 games.
Henriksen took Mainz to sixth in the table, the equal best placing in their history, securing them a Conference League spot.
In the top flight since 2009-10, Mainz have been a proving ground for top coaches. Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and current England boss Thomas Tuchel started out at Mainz, while Bayer Leverkusen manager Kasper Hjulmand began his Bundesliga career with them.
