A socio-political group, the Arewa Consultative Youth Movement has called for an independent assessment of operational and administrative processes at the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
The movement stated that such a review would strengthen transparency and public confidence in the institution.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its President, Kabiru Yusuf, the group said institutions responsible for managing national revenue must consistently adopt practices that reinforce accountability and openness.
It stated that its call for an independent review was part of its commitment to promoting good governance and ensuring that public institutions maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
It clarified that the review does not imply any wrongdoing but reflects global best practices aimed at strengthening public trust in government institutions.
“Our position does not suggest guilt or misconduct. Rather, it reflects our belief that public confidence grows when leaders proactively support measures that ensure accountability,” the statement said.
The movement noted that it would continue to engage stakeholders and would make further statements after consultations if necessary.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to promoting accountability, transparency, and national interest, stressing that Nigerians deserve institutions that uphold public trust.
“Nigeria deserves institutions built on transparency and leaders whose actions strengthen public trust. We remain committed to advocating for accountability and the national interest,” it added.
