Uba Sani to Speaker Abbas: We ‘re proud Of your achievements
Governor Uba Sani has described the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, as one of the most effective Speakers in the history of the National Assembly, citing his ability to successfully manage the complexities of the lower legislative chamber.
Speaking in Zaria on Sunday as Special Guest of Honour at the Renewed Hope Empowerment Programme sponsored by the Speaker, Governor Sani said his assessment aligns with the view of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Governor expressed appreciation to the President for supporting Dr. Abbas and ensuring a smooth and stable leadership of the House of Representatives.
“As a former senator, I know how difficult it is to preside over the House of Representatives. There are 360 members. No matter your competence, patience or hard work, one day you will be pushed to the wall,” he said.
“But today, in the history of Nigeria, no Speaker has brought development like Tajudeen Abbas. I am not the only one praising him for the unity he has brought to the House of Representatives. It was President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who said it. I am only repeating what he said.”
Governor Sani commended the Speaker for his commitment to youth and women empowerment, not only in his Zaria constituency but across Kaduna State and the country.
He recalled that some political actors questioned his support for Abbas during the race for Speaker, but said he backed him purely on the conviction that he would bring development to Kaduna State.
“I told them my support was not based on politics. I will support anyone who will bring development to Kaduna State. Now, I have been vindicated by the projects he has executed and the empowerment programmes he has implemented,” he said.
The Governor added that he expects all legislators from Kaduna State to emulate the Speaker by attracting development projects to their constituencies.
“I have told all legislators here with us that we can only remain on good terms if they bring development to their people. Anyone who does not attract a school, hospital or any project to his constituency, we will part ways with him,” he cautioned.
Governor Sani further disclosed that the Speaker has assisted all Kaduna lawmakers in facilitating projects in their constituencies and is personally undertaking projects across all 23 local government areas of the state. He appealed to Dr. Abbas to consider building a stadium for Sabon Gari Local Government, similar to the one recently completed in Zaria.
The empowerment event, held at Kofar Doka, Zaria, featured the distribution of SUVs to traditional leaders. Farmers received tractors, combine harvesters, fertiliser applicators, knapsack sprayers, and solar-powered and petrol water pumps for irrigation. Women beneficiaries were given deep freezers, grinding machines, industrial sewing machines, and haulage tricycles to support small businesses.
