Kwankwasiyya commends Kano Dep Gov’s ‘loyalty’ amid pressure
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has commended the Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, and other elected officials for what it described as their steadfast loyalty to former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, despite mounting political pressure and inducements.
The commendation followed the recent resignation of several political appointees from the Kano State Government in solidarity with Kwankwaso, amid ongoing political realignments in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by the spokesperson of the movement, Dr Habibu Sale Mohammed, the Kwankwasiyya Movement described the deputy governor’s stance as a demonstration of courage, principle and commitment to the mandate given by the electorate.
“The Movement commends the courage and steadfastness of the Deputy Governor, our elected representatives including a Senator, Members of the House of Representatives, Members of the Kano State House of Assembly and councillors who have remained resolute and loyal to the mandate freely given to them by the people,” the statement said.
According to the movement, the deputy governor and other elected officials remained firm despite “numerous inducements and sustained pressure” from state and federal authorities, a development it said reinforced public confidence in representative democracy.
The statement also praised former commissioners, special advisers, special assistants, managing directors and executive secretaries who resigned their appointments in protest, describing their actions as sacrifices driven by conviction rather than personal interest.
It said the resignations were taken with full awareness of the benefits being forfeited, adding that such decisions reflected integrity and selfless service.
The movement disclosed that Senator Kwankwaso had earlier appealed to those who resigned to reconsider their decisions, noting that the advice was borne out of appreciation for their roles in governance and institution-building, not political weakness.
However, it said the affected appointees insisted that their personal convictions were incompatible with what they described as the prevailing directives and orientation of the Gandujiyya-led government in Kano State.
The statement further acknowledged the resignation of officials at the local government level, including council secretaries, supervisory councillors and personal assistants, describing their actions as evidence of grassroots commitment to justice and fairness.
Reaffirming its ideological stance, the Kwankwasiyya Movement stressed that it was not built on positions or privileges but on sacrifice, service and the pursuit of good governance and social justice.
The movement assured its supporters that it remained united and focused, insisting that no amount of pressure or inducement would derail its objectives.
