Lobi Stars suspend coach Bala over poor performance
The Technical Adviser of Lobi Stars, Abubakar Bala, has been suspended indefinitely over poor performance of the club in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) season.
The step-aside decision was taken after the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the club rose from yesterday’s emergency meeting.
The management cited poor performance as reason for the suspension, saying that the club had played six matches and earned only seven points out of a possible 18, which has left the former NPFL champions in sixth position out of eight clubs in the NNL Conference C.
According to the Director of Media and Communication of Lobi Stars, Emmanuel Terwase Uja, the suspended Technical Adviser has been directed to hand over to the Chief Coach of the club, John Onuh (Abacha), with immediate effect.
Coach Bala before his latest stint with the club once handled Lobi Stars briefly under Mr. Dominic Iorfa, but left following unresolved issues.
He left to coach Sunshine Stars last season in the NPFL and returned to Lobi Stars after leading the “Akure gunners” to relegation.
Bala was recalled by the immediate past management of Lobi Stars led by Dr. Philip Nongu, and was retained by the present Management Committee chaired by Mr. Simon Ikya.
A fan of Lobi Stars, Mr. Terseer Maih, said the suspension of the former Niger Tornadoes, Kwara United, and Katsina United coach didn’t come to him as a surprise because the coach has failed to put Lobi Stars among the promotion contenders.
