
ABU DLC and EduTech host Inaugural Awards & Gala night in Zaria
The Ahmadu Bello University Distance Learning Centre (ABU DLC), in partnership with EduTech Advanced Business Technologies Limited (EABT), proudly hosted the maiden edition of the ABU DLC/EduTech Awards & Gala night, a landmark celebration of excellence, innovation, and service in the university’s distance learning ecosystem, on the 6th of December 2025 at the Ahmadu Bello University Convocation Arena, Zaria.
Through its long-standing partnership with EduTech Advanced Business Technologies Limited (EABT), powered by Vigilearn, ABU DLC has enabled thousands of learners nationwide to access its distance learning programmes without the constraints of geography, time, or campus logistics. The company’s solutions have transformed instructional delivery, automated mission-critical processes, and empowered students across Nigeria and beyond to pursue degrees that were previously out of reach. This synergy continues to strengthen ABU DLC’s reputation as the leading model for technology-enabled higher education in Nigeria.
The historic event brought together distinguished members of the Ahmadu Bello University community, senior academics, administrators, tutors, and partners to mark over a decade of transformation driven by technology, collaboration, and a shared commitment to accessible education.

Delivering his remarks, the Director of the Distance Learning Centre, Prof. Mohammed Bashir Mua’azu, praised the collective effort that has positioned Ahmadu Bello University Distance Learning Centre (ABU DLC) as a national leader. He expressed appreciation to the staff and management of the Centre, stating:
“We want to appreciate and recognise the management and staff of the DLC; it is your night tonight.” and “Yo dang Allah into Makai ya hakuri dang Allah,” a Hausa expression conveying gratitude and goodwill.
His remarks underscored the scale, impact, and significance of the Centre’s progress, acknowledging the critical contributions of its founding legislation, administrative framework, and dedicated workforce.
Echoing the Director’s sentiment that “Everything about ABU DLC is massive,” he celebrated the Centre’s consistent record of excellence, reflected in its student outcomes and Senate-approved results. Looking ahead, he endorsed projections that the Centre will reach 150,000 students, urging continued strategic effort toward this goal.
The Chief Executive Officer of EduTech Advanced Business Technologies Limited, Ms Moyosore Asubiojo, delivered a warm welcome address, expressing appreciation for the presence of ABU executives, staff, tutors, and key partners. She highlighted:
Ms Moyosore Asubiojo emphasised EduTech’s unwavering commitment to the university, noting: “There is no way EduTech could have done it alone. The success of ABU’s Distance Learning Programme is the result of consistent support from the University, the Centre, the tutors, and the entire ABU community.”
She reaffirmed EduTech’s pledge to support the University in achieving its projection of 150,000 students within the next five years through enhanced technology deployment, student support systems, and lead-generation strategies.
In conclusion, the CEO expressed profound gratitude: “Thank you for hosting us today and for giving us the privilege to co-host this first Award & Gala Night. We hope this becomes a recurring tradition of celebrating excellence.”
Throughout the evening, past and present contributors were honoured for their roles in ABU DLC’s outstanding achievements. The CEO also unveiled the award categories: Lifetime Achievement Awards, Commendation Award for Excellence, Outstanding Merit Awards, Commendation Award for Outstanding Service, Special Recognition Merit Awards, and Top Performing Tutors, establishing the foundation for an annual tradition dedicated to recognising excellence across academia, student support services, and innovation.
The event also reaffirmed the pivotal role of Vigilearn Technologies as the digital engine powering the ABU DLC ecosystem.
