The Bauchi State Government has disowned circulating fake employment offers allegedly issued in the name of the state’s Civil Service Commission, warning members of the public against falling victim to fraudulent job racketeers.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Information and Public Relations Officer of the Commission, Saleh Umar, he disclosed that the agency had received multiple reports of individuals offering fake appointment letters while demanding payments in exchange for civil service positions.
“The Commission has received several reports indicating that some individuals are offering fake appointments, demanding money or other forms of payment in exchange for positions within the state civil service.
“The general public is strongly advised to be cautious and vigilant, as these appointments are not genuine and have no affiliation with the official civil service recruitment process,” the statement read in part.
Umar stressed that no legitimate employment process in the state requires applicants to make payments, adding that all recruitments are carried out strictly in line with established procedures and based on merit.
“Anyone found to be involved in such fraudulent activities will be dealt with,” he warned.
The Information Officer further cautioned residents to desist from engaging in any arrangement purporting to secure employment in exchange for money or favours, emphasising that positions in the state civil service are not for sale.
