
Tinubu orders security chiefs to deliver ‘tangible results’ in fight against insecurity
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday directed Nigeria’s service chiefs and heads of security agencies to intensify operations and produce measurable gains against worsening insecurity nationwide.
Tinubu met the officials behind closed doors at the presidential villa in Abuja shortly after launching the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day emblem.
Read Also: Putin, Trump envoy hold tense but “useful” talks as pressure builds for deal The session, which lasted more than an hour, brought together Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede; Army Chief Wahidi Shaibu; Air Chief Sunday Aneke; Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun; DSS Director-General Adeola Ajayi; and NIA Director-General Mohammed Mohammed.
Speaking after the meeting, Oluyede described the briefing as “very engaging” and said the president issued new directives aimed at achieving “better and faster results” in tackling banditry, terrorism and other threats.
The defence chief said security agencies are improving coordination ahead of the year-end holidays and assured Nigerians of a peaceful yuletide.
