Man shot dead for allegedly refusing to share illegal park levies
A man identified simply as Courage, popularly known as “Dogo,” has been reportedly shot dead by gunmen in Edo State.
It was gathered that the deceased was killed by his own associates following a disagreement over the sharing of money illegally collected from motorists at various motor parks in Benin City. Despite a standing government ban on such collections, the deceased and his gang were reportedly collecting “ticket money” from members of the public.
Sources revealed that Dogo had been collecting these illegal levies but refused to share the proceeds with other members of the group.
Angered by this development, his associates allegedly conspired and killed him.
The Secretary, Edo State Special Security Squad, Izegaegbe John, confirmed the incident, stating that the command received a distress call reporting that Courage had been shot dead.
According to the Coordinator, preliminary investigations indicate that the killing was not cult-related. Instead, it was the result of a dispute over the distribution of money collected at the parks in defiance of the government ban.
