
Police recover two bodies in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of two individuals in separate incidents in Maiduguri and said investigations have been launched into the circumstances surrounding the killings
In a statement on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, revealed that in two separate incidents, a woman, Rifkatu Yohanna, and a man, Muhammed Ibrahim Saje, were found dead under gruesome circumstances.
According to the statement, the first case occurred in Shuwari II on December 3, 2025, at about 0102 hours.
Rifkatu Yohanna was found “brutally wounded inside her room, lying unconscious in a pool of her blood with her neck slitted and other parts of her body hacked.”
She was rushed to the State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where a medical practitioner confirmed her dead.
Her corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
“One suspect, Salisu Mohammed Nura (also known as Aliyas Amir), has been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently in police custody, while investigations continue,” ASP Daso added.
Also on the same day, at 1255hrs, a report was received at GRA Police Division from Bulama Adam of Polo Area that an unknown lifeless body with a slitted throat had been found inside a green Honda Civic vehicle with registration number GUB 142GB in a lone and isolated area of Modari Polo, Maiduguri.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer and his team immediately proceeded to the scene, cordoned off the area, and recovered the body.
“The corpse was subsequently taken to State Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri, where it was deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the body and vehicle had been at the location for over 24 hours.
“An ATM card and vehicle particulars bearing the name Muhammed Ibrahim Saje, later confirmed to be that of the victim, were recovered at the scene,” ASP Daso said.
The command added that the case is still under investigation
It added, “Both cases have been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Maiduguri, for a comprehensive and discreet investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, has also ordered an increase in visibility patrols across the state to checkmate criminal activities.
“The commissioner further warned criminal elements to desist from such heinous acts, assuring that the command is committed to bringing perpetrators to justice.”
