Some of Oyo State’s prominent political leaders and legal experts will converge in Iseyin this weekend to deliberate on key issues affecting the Oke-Ogun region, including state creation, security and agro-allied development.
The high-level roundtable forms part of the 2025 PMI Week organised by the Pioneer Movement Iseyin, a non-governmental and non-political organisation focused on the socio-educational advancement of Iseyin and the Oke-Ogun region.
According to a statement signed by PMI President, Kayode Adelere; Secretary, Bayo Azeez; and Chairman of the Planning Committee, Tunji Salami, the week-long programme will centre on “Oke-Ogun Affairs: Matters Arising,” with discussions also touching on socio-political development and youth opportunities.
The roundtable, scheduled for Saturday (today) at Iseyin City Hall, will host notable figures including Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ahmed Raji; Senator Fatai Buhari (Oyo North); House of Representatives member, Najeemdeen Oyedeji (Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa); and Oyo State lawmaker, Dele Adeola (Iseyin/Itesiwaju).
According to the statement shared with our correspondent on Friday, the session aims to identify practical pathways for the region’s development amid increasing calls for a new state, rising security concerns and the untapped opportunities in the region’s vast agricultural landscape.
The PMI Week commenced on Friday with a Jumat service at Araromi Central Mosque and the finals of the Pioneer Ajibike Bisiriyu Football Competition at the Iseyin Sports Ground.
The Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Oyebola Ajirotutu, will serve as Father of the Day at the Saturday’s event, which will also feature scholarship presentations and teacher awards.
The programme will wrap up on Sunday (tomorrow), with a thanksgiving service at Christ Apostolic Church, Oluwole, Iseyin.
The association encouraged residents and other stakeholders across Oke-Ogun to participate actively in the annual programme aimed at accelerating development in the region.
