The Director-General of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Lekan Fatodu, has hosted Super Falcons forward Folashade Ijamilusi at his office in the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, during her courtesy visit to the Commission.
In a statement obtained from the Lagos State’s X account on Sunday, Fatodu applauded Ijamilusi’s contributions to women’s football and her role in Nigeria’s recent success at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
He described her achievements as a symbol of excellence and a source of inspiration to young female athletes across Lagos and Nigeria.
Fatodu emphasised the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening sports development through collaborations with private sector partners, individuals, and relevant stakeholders.
According to him, meaningful progress in sports can only be achieved when the right structures, support systems, and committed minds work together.
“No height can be achieved without the right support, the right structure, and the right minds coming together to make things happen,” he said.
He highlighted Ijamilusi’s strong ties to Lagos, noting that she represented the state at the National Championship, a testament to Lagos’ continued investment in grassroots development and talent grooming.
“A collaboration between LSSC and Ijamilusi is a significant step toward achieving our goals.
“We are pleased to have a reliable and trusted partner in you. Together, we can create a positive impact and bring about meaningful change in our society,” he said.
Ijamilusi, who has been actively involved in empowering young girls through sports and education, expressed her appreciation for the recognition and reaffirmed her commitment to contributing to the development of female football in Lagos.
The visit further strengthens the relationship between Lagos State and its homegrown talents, signalling renewed support for initiatives aimed at nurturing future champions and elevating the state’s sporting profile.
