Armed robbers shoot victim, cart away millions in Kwara
There was pandemonium in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Friday when a four-man armed robbery gang shot their way through to snatch several millions of naira from an unsuspecting victim.
The incident occurred along Murtala Muhammed Way.
The gunmen, all masked, were said to have operated in an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla with a faded number plate.
A source told journalists that the suspects likely trailed their victim to the spot before opening fire and carting away cash packed in four large cartons.

It was gathered that the robbers opened fire from behind, hitting the victim’s grey Toyota Sienna with registration number AA 693 GT and deflating the two left tyres.
Forced to stop, three masked men alighted from the Corolla while a fourth remained at the wheel for a quick getaway. The assailants fired multiple shots into the air to scare passersby in the densely populated business area.
Stray bullets reportedly hit the driver on the arm and pierced both the front and rear windshields, as well as other parts of the vehicle.
“They offloaded the cartons filled with money from the Sienna into their Corolla before speeding off,” an eyewitness recounted.
Another witness lamented the absence of security operatives during the attack. “No policeman was seen either during the operation or after it,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to obtain the reaction of the state police command were unsuccessful.
