Aduda moves to join APC
The immediate past senator who represented the FCT on the platform of the PDP, Philip Aduda, has disclosed that the ruling APC has been wooing him for the past 20 years, saying it is finally time for him to realign with the party.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Saturday, Aduda, who was the Minority Leader of the 9th Senate, explained that his decision to join the APC was driven by the need for the FCT indigenes to be represented in the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
He said while he pushed for this during his time in the senate under the PDP, the goal was only realised under the current APC administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He said, “What we have been clamouring for over 20 years – to have a representative at the FEC – could not see the light of day until it was granted to us under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Hence, it is time for us to align and realign with the ruling party.”
He further said, “The PDP acting national chairman is here with me, but there comes a time when everyone must choose a path. There comes a time when you must look at the situation and realise you must move your people into mainstream politics to ensure maximum benefit.”
Senator Aduda noted that the Tinubu administration, through the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had provided viable infrastructure across the six area councils of the FCT.
He remarked that it would be “selfish” not to align with the Renewed Hope agenda given the developments.
He added that, “So, in the coming days, there will be alignment and realignment – aligning with the federal and state levels to ensure more development comes to our people. As such, I cannot and will not be selfish.”
Aduda rated the FCT Administration (FCTA) under Wike as the best in history in terms of infrastructure development.
He also credited Wike with tackling insecurity across the territory by fostering collaboration among the security agencies.
He called on the people of the territory to support the APC-led administration to ensure they continued to receive the dividends of democracy.
