
PDP faction appoints Enugu, Delta, Rivers’ caretaker committees

The Peoples Democratic Party has appointed caretaker committees to oversee its chapters in Enugu, Delta and Rivers States.
The National Working Committee approved the decision on behalf of the National Executive Committee in line with Section 29(2)(b) of the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended).
Announcing the appointments in a statement on Friday , the National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Shan, said the committees would manage party affairs for a period not exceeding 90 days or until new executives are elected.
According to him, “The National Working Committee, on behalf of the National Executive Committee, has approved the constitution of caretaker committees for Enugu, Delta and Rivers States.
“The committees are charged with running the affairs of the party as stipulated in Section 21(2)(a–b) of the PDP Constitution.”
He added that the appointees must adhere strictly to relevant laws while carrying out their duties.
“In carrying out these assignments, the committees are to be guided strictly by the PDP Constitution (2025 as amended), the Electoral Act 2022 and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement read.

Shan congratulated the appointees, saying the move was part of efforts to strengthen the party’s structure in the affected states.
