Barely days after his coronation, the traditional ruler of Uvuru Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Iheanacho Chinyereze Mbalewe, Ezeoha III, has called on indigenes to embrace peace, unity and collective purpose as a pathway to accelerated development.
The monarch who ascended the throne on December 27, 2025, made the appeal during his inauguration, describing his emergence as the dawn of a new era for Uvuru, anchored on reconciliation, progress and shared responsibility.
He urged the people to reflect on the sacrifices of their forefathers and align their actions with a renewed vision for the community.
“In the life of every community, there comes a time for deep introspection; a time to pause and reflect on its journey and appropriately align every step and plan to its set vision and goals. For Uvuru Autonomous Community, there is probably no better time than now,” he said.
He stressed that development would only thrive in an atmosphere of unity, noting that internal conflicts, including a protracted 15-year legal tussle, had stalled growth in the area.
Signalling immediate action, he announced the commencement of empowerment, skills acquisition and scholarship programmes, which he said are being funded personally.
While distribution of forms and screening of participants began on January 3, 2026, training of successful candidates is expected to commence before the end of the month.
He also appealed to indigenes, friends of the community and associates to contribute their time, resources and expertise towards rebuilding Uvuru. He thanked Uvuru residents for what he described as a peaceful selection and coronation process, pledging to lead with fairness, humility and dedication.
Dignitaries present at the event include thee former Governor of Imo State and former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, an indigene of neighbouring Mbutu community.
Ezeoha III also thanked the Imo State Government and Aboh-Mbaise Local Government Area for their recognition and support, as well as the clergy, fellow traditional rulers, neighbouring communities, security agencies and guests who attended the ceremony.
