Woman insists Davido is daughter’s father, demands fresh DNA test
Ayo Labinjoh, mother of Anu Adeleke, has reiterated her claim that Nigerian music star Davido is her daughter’s biological father, calling for a fresh and independently supervised DNA test to resolve the long-running paternity dispute.
The controversy resurfaced after Anu, described as a teenager, shared a post on Instagram requesting a DNA test to establish her identity.
In the post, she spoke about experiencing bullying and emotional distress, alleging that classmates mocked her claims of being Davido’s daughter.
Responding on X, Davido denied paternity, stating that he had undergone five DNA tests, all of which returned negative results.
He said three of the tests were conducted at hospitals of his choice, while two were selected by Anu’s representatives, adding that all produced the same outcome.
The singer also expressed frustration over the matter and said he would take steps to hold Anu’s mother accountable.
In her reaction, Labinjoh said she was speaking out primarily to protect her daughter’s mental wellbeing, citing years of alleged bullying linked to the dispute.
She rejected claims circulating on social media about her relationship with the singer, describing them as harmful. “I’m NOT Davido’s baby mama or a prostitute. I am very protective of my daughter’s mental health after the level of bullying she went through for years,” she said.
Labinjoh alleged that the controversy had taken a toll on her daughter, claiming the teenager “cried for days, fainted in school and went through psychotherapy.”
She further disputed Davido’s account of multiple DNA tests, alleging irregularities surrounding an earlier test conducted in 2014. According to her, blood samples taken at the time were discarded and the results later misrepresented.
“We wasted our time, disrupted Anu’s mental health, then they lied that we did two tests, now five, and then say he’s never met me,” she said.
Labinjoh also claimed that Davido recently contacted her daughter directly, accusing him of threats and verbal abuse. “David chatted my daughter tonight threatening to lock me up, cursing Anu and repeatedly bullying her,” she alleged.
She said she plans to seek international oversight for a new DNA test, adding, “David is a US citizen. I will request the US State Department to contact the Embassy in Lagos or Abuja to help us supervise and witness a clean independent DNA test.”
According to Labinjoh, her actions are driven by her daughter’s right to know her identity. “I’m not fighting for my daughter. My daughter is fighting for her identity,” she said.
