
5 charged with theft of N11.4m in Ekiti
The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned five persons before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate’s Court over an alleged felony involving the theft of over N11.4 million.
The defendants were identified as Terkuma Harrism (22), Okpeke Henry Chinedu (23), Anjorin Precious (20), Alade Omowumi (30), and Chika Chianaka (19).
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that between 2024 and 2026 in Ado-Ekiti, Harrism and Chinedu conspired to steal the sum of N11,467,000. He further alleged that Precious and Omowumi received the stolen funds, which were the property of one Chinedu Nnamani.
Inspector Oriyomi stated that the offences committed are punishable under Sections 421, 302(1)(a), and 343 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Counsel to the defendants, Barristers Oluwafemi Alabi and Kenneth, urged the court to grant their clients bail, providing assurances that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. Abayomi Adeosun, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until March 3 for hearing.
