Businessday’s Ifeoma Okeke-Korieocha wins top print journalism prize at Eloy awards
BusinessDay journalist Ifeoma Okeke-Korieocha has been named winner of the Print Media Journalist category at this year’s Eloy awards, a recognition that celebrates women whose reporting informs, inspires and influences public conversation.
The Eloy awards, created in 2009 by Tewa Onasanya, honour outstanding women across professional and social sectors. Beyond the annual ceremony, the Eloy Awards Foundation runs grants, training and mentorship programmes that support women’s economic and social advancement across Nigeria and Africa.

Okeke-Korieocha serves as Aviation editor at BusinessDay Media and deputy editor of the BusinessDay Weekender Magazine. BusinessDay, founded in 2001, is regarded as Nigeria’s most respected business newspaper, known for its strong reporting on business, labour, politics and the economy, with a bureau in Accra, Ghana.
She joined BusinessDay in 2016 and has since reported from major aviation conferences and business events across several countries. She holds a degree in Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and a masters degree in Marketing from the University of Lagos.

As lead writer on the aviation desk, she oversees three weekly aviation and travel pages across BusinessDay and BDSunday, and she edits the full Saturday Weekender edition. Her body of work includes investigative reports, features and news stories that have shaped national conversations on aviation and business.
Her excellence has earned her repeated nominations for the Aviation Writer of the Year award at the Nigeria Media Nite Out Awards, one of the country’s most recognised media honours. She has also won the Aviation Writer of the Year prize at the Nigeria Media Merit Award.

Reflecting on her win, she said, “I am happy to be a recipient of the award and I believe this is a leap in my career. I also encourage any other woman out there putting in their best in their career to continue the good work and not relent in being dogged and determined to reach the top”
Okeke Korieocha has completed several journalism training programmes and is a fellow of the Female Reporters Leadership Fellowship run by the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism.
Her recognition at the Eloy awards adds another milestone to an already impactful career.
