FCT NSCDC nabs 112 vandals, 50 illegal miners in 2025
The Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, Olusola Odumosu, has disclosed that the agency arrested 112 vandals and 50 illegal miners across the FCT in 2025.
Odumosu, who stated this on Tuesday in Abuja, during the decoration of 402 newly promoted officers of the command, said the arrest was followed by successful prosecutions that helped deter criminal activities.
“The suspected vandals were arrested for various offences such as armoured and fibre optic cables vandalism, theft of telecommunication equipment and installations, masts vandalism, street light dismantling, solar panel and poles theft, road crash barriers vandalism, billboard destruction and theft.
“In line with modern security demands, we have invested in capacity building through continuous training and retraining of personnel, including specialised courses in intelligence gathering, election security, crowd control, disaster management, and inclusive security practices,” he said.
While addressing the newly promoted officers, the Commandant urged them to wear their new ranks with humility, integrity, and renewed zeal.
“Let your conduct reflect the confidence reposed in you by the Corps and the Nigerian people. Be role models to your subordinates, uphold the highest ethical standards, and remain steadfast in your loyalty to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.
