Adamawa Earmarks ₦31.94bn for Healthcare
The Adamawa State Government has earmarked ₦31.94 billion for the healthcare sector in its 2026 budget, underscoring the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to improving health service delivery across the state.
The allocation is aimed at strengthening social interventions in the health sector, with a focus on expanding access to quality and affordable healthcare for residents, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
Key areas of intervention include the construction and rehabilitation of hospitals and primary healthcare centres, as well as the procurement of essential drugs and medical consumables to improve service efficiency. The budget also makes provision for the recruitment and continuous training of medical personnel, alongside measures to enhance the welfare of health workers.
In addition, funds have been set aside for the acquisition of modern medical equipment, the expansion of maternal and child healthcare services, and the strengthening of emergency medical services. The government also plans to scale up disease prevention initiatives and public health programmes aimed at reducing morbidity and improving overall health outcomes in the state.
Officials say the 2026 healthcare allocation reflects the Fintiri administration’s broader agenda of investing in human capital development and building a resilient healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of Adamawa’s growing population.
