Wike yet to facilitate my meeting with Rivers Assembly – Fubara
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has insisted he has no personal disagreement with members of the State House of Assembly, saying a planned reconciliation meeting has stalled because the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is yet to convene it.
Speaking on Wednesday at the inauguration of the dualised Ahoada–Omoku Road, Fubara said he had made repeated efforts through the State Elders Council led by Chief Ferdinand Anabraba, to meet with the lawmakers, contrary to claims that he was unwilling to engage or address their concerns.
He stressed that the arrangement required Wike, as leader of the process, to facilitate the meeting, which has not happened.
Fubara reaffirmed his readiness to meet the lawmakers’ demands in the interest of peace and stability, noting that unity was essential for Rivers State’s development.
He said he avoided reaching out directly to prevent misinterpretations that he was trying to undermine the reconciliation process.
The governor also explained that his recent political alignment with the APC was aimed at consolidating peace and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said had provided his administration the backing needed to remain stable.
