Shettima to receive Mutfwang into APC today
The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that Vice President Kashim Shettima will visit the state on Tuesday to formally receive Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the ruling party.
The disclosure was made by the APC and the Central Planning Committee ahead of the governor’s official reception, which is expected to attract top party leaders from across the country.
Governor Mutfwang had, in a letter dated December 29, 2025, addressed to the ward chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area, announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He explained that his decision was informed by prevailing political realities and a desire to pursue impactful leadership and service delivery on a different political platform.
Confirming the visit during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) headquarters in Jos on Monday, Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, said Vice President Shettima would serve as the special guest of honour at the event.
Wase said the reception would also be attended by the national chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda; President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas; and several APC governors and party leaders.
He appealed to residents of the state to accord visiting dignitaries a warm reception and to conduct themselves peacefully and responsibly.
According to him, the success of the event depends on the collective commitment of residents to orderliness, mutual respect and cooperation with security agencies, in line with Plateau State’s long-standing reputation for hospitality and peaceful coexistence.
