Political Harmony Growing in Kano, Says Gov Yusuf
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has said that political harmony is growing in Kano State, expressing confidence that the lingering Kano Emirate tussle will soon be resolved amicably.
He assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure a peaceful outcome acceptable to all parties.
The governor spoke during the second special prayer session and Qur’anic recitation held at the Government House in Kano, where 4,444 reciters gathered to pray for unity, peace and prosperity in the state.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the collective devotion to Almighty God was already yielding positive results, pointing to what he described as growing harmony among political leaders in the state.
He cited the attendance of the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, at recent state functions as a sign of improving political unity in Kano.
Governor Yusuf expressed optimism that the fervent prayers offered during the session would pave the way for an amicable resolution of the emirate dispute.
He pledged to do everything within his power to unite political actors in the state, urging them to shun do-or-die politics and instead embrace mutual respect and understanding for the overall development of Kano.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling thuggery, lamenting that youths involved in such acts are indigenes who should be contributing positively to the growth of the state.
He assured residents that his government would continue to implement projects with direct impact on their lives and commended the Qur’anic reciters for dedicating their time to pray for the peace and stability of Kano.
In his remarks, the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, praised the governor’s initiative in organising the unity prayer programme and urged other states to emulate Kano’s example in promoting peace and cohesion.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, called on residents to remain steadfast in prayers for the continued progress of Kano State and the country at large.
