Troops clear terrorist camps, thwart drone attacks in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have cleared multiple Boko Haram/ISWAP camps and repelled coordinated drone attacks by terrorists in the Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State.
Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the JTF, in a statement, said scores of terrorists were killed while others fled with gunshot wounds.
He said troops also recovered arms, ammunition, and logistical materials during the intelligence-led operations conducted across enclaves, including Chilaria, Garin Faruk, and Abirma.
“The operation was supported by OPHK’s Air Component, which provided continuous intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance coverage.
“This air-to-ground synergy allowed real-time tracking of terrorist movements, deterred reinforcements, and enhanced the precision of ground offensives,” he said.
He listed the recovered items to include Baofeng radios, AK-47 magazines, 7.62mm and 12.7mm ammunition, Boko Haram/ISWAP flags, medical supplies, diesel-powered grinding machines, large quantities of grains, a pickup truck, underground storage facilities, and Petroleum and Oil Lubricants (POL).
Lt. Col. Uba said troops faced armed drone attacks around midday and again in the evening but maintained momentum, forcing the insurgents to withdraw.
He said the Military High Command remains resolute in its mission to eliminate terrorist threats, protect civilians, and restore lasting peace and stability across the North East.
