Idris stated this at the fourth attestation ceremony of the 2025 class of MBBS students of Nile University of Nigeria on Friday in Abuja.
He said the students would contribute to the medical profession and effective healthcare services that Tinubu is seeking to improve in the country.
“I feel so proud, and we also want to urge them to align themselves with the vision of Mr President in providing good-quality healthcare for our people and also improving medical industrialisation.
“One, the japa syndrome by our medical personnel, I think there is a new revised system now.
“What Tinubu is trying to do is to ensure that all professionals actually have the ability and the comfort to stay within the shores of Nigeria to practise their profession.
“Indeed, we are also seeing that some other people who had even left this country are now coming back as a result of the policies that have been put in place, especially in the healthcare sector.
“Improvement in all the primary healthcare facilities and the injection of funds are boosting medical industrialisation in the country and ensuring it competes with other parts of the world.
“We can see that with what the President has done; he launched six oncology centres across the country and also rehabilitated tertiary healthcare facilities,” Idris said.
He noted that Tinubu’s efforts are helping to address illnesses such as cancer and others that usually take Nigerians abroad, adding that such treatments are now available and affordable in Nigeria.
According to him, these efforts are aimed at ensuring that Nigerian healthcare is world class, describing them as the beginning of improved service delivery by professionals entering the sector.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Idris’ daughter, Rukaya, was among the over 50 students who participated in the attestation ceremony.
Rukaya said she intended to become a good medical doctor and help improve Nigeria’s healthcare system.
“I hope to gain experience and help people who are less privileged with my knowledge.
“Also, for students who are struggling, everything is possible. All you have to do is pray, study well with commitment, dedication, focus and rest,” she said.
