Truck crushes rider to death in Jos

A long vehicle loaded with cement on Wednesday night crushed a teenage rider around Terminus Market, Jos North local government area of Plateau State.

Our correspondent reports that the incident occurred around 9:30 pm when the trailer was heading out of Jos City.

The accident generated concern from sympathizers who trooped to the scene of the accident.

According to an eyewitness, Musa Audu, the incident occurred when the Heelys rider was Heelying around and suddenly held onto the trailer but unluckily, the tire of the truck hit him and finally crushed him to death.

Audu said, “the accident happened around 9:30 when people had already left the market. Before the victim was crushed to death, he was holding onto the vehicle and moving with it, and unfortunately, the tire of the truck hit him, threw him down, and immediately, the truck ran over him, killing him instantly.”

Nasiru Yahaya, chairman of a section of Terminus market, also confirmed the incident, explaining that Heelys riders, especially children, often “Heely” around Murtala Muhammed Way, especially at night and when there isn’t much movement of people and vehicles around the area, giving them more space to engage in their activities.

He described the incident as pathetic, noting that was the first time such an incident happened in the area involving.
