
I was given N100K to bomb the Maiduguri mosque – suspect
A suspected Boko Haram operative has reportedly confessed to being paid N100,000 to carry out a bomb attack on a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The disclosure was made on Wednesday, citing security sources. According to the report, the suspect, identified as Ibrahim Mohammed, was arrested by troops of Operation Hadin Kai with the support of local hunters in Yobe State.

Security sources reported that the arrest occurred during an intelligence-led raid in Damaturu, following suspicions raised by the suspect’s conduct. He was taken into custody and questioned by security operatives.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted involvement in a deadly attack on a mosque in Maiduguri in December, which resulted in casualties among worshippers.
The suspect was also said to have revealed that the operation was directed by terror commanders operating within the North-East region and that payments were made to those assigned to carry out attacks.

Security sources further disclosed that the suspect is believed to be part of a wider terror network planning coordinated attacks across parts of the North-East. Investigations are ongoing to identify collaborators, sponsors and possible threats linked to the confession.
Following the arrest, troops were deployed to the areas mentioned by the suspect to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents. Security agencies have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious items or movements.
