Gov Yusuf reaffirms commitment to justice, infrastructure
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to justice, infrastructural development, and good governance, assuring that ongoing reforms are aimed at building a more equitable and progressive state.
The governor made the pledge at the Annual Dinner and Awards Night organised by CREED Magazine at Tropical Galeria, Kano. He was represented by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Yusuf commended CREED for fostering meaningful dialogue on leadership, justice, and societal development.
He said the justice sector reforms initiated by his administration were already yielding results, noting that a recent review of detention facilities uncovered disturbing cases of inmates held for years without trial, case files, or legal representation.
According to him, swift actions were taken to trace missing files, provide legal advice, and release deserving inmates in the interest of justice.
The governor also highlighted ongoing infrastructural interventions across Kano, including road rehabilitation, improved water supply, school and hospital upgrades, and urban renewal projects designed to make the city safer, cleaner, and more organised.
“These reforms and projects reflect our commitment to building a Kano that meets global standards and provides greater opportunities for all,” he said.
Governor Yusuf received the CREED Magazine Governor of the Year 2025 Award for Infrastructure and Good Governance, in recognition of his urban renewal efforts and commitment to repositioning Kano as a modern megacity.
