Saraki redeems N1m pledge to Daily Trust Unsung Hero, Sagagi
A former President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has fulfilled the promise made to Sheikh Musa Ibrahim Sagagi, who was honoured at the 23rd edition of Daily Trust Dialogue.
Saraki, also a former governor of Kwara State, who chaired the well-attended January occasion in the nation’s capital, Abuja, sent the sum of N1,000,000 to the honouree on Tuesday.
The honouree and his family members confirmed the receipt of the pledge on Tuesday, while expressing their gratitude to the former Senate President and the Media Trust Group.
The Media Trust Group, publishers and owners of Daily Trust, Weekend Trust, Aminiya, Trust TV and Trust Radio, had honoured Sagagi as the 2025 Unsung Hero of the Year.
The award recognised his decades of commitment to skills acquisition and education, which have benefited thousands of people in his community.
Sagagi, a resident of the Gangare community in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, established the College of Islamic Studies (CIS) to expand access to secondary education for children from low-income families in Jos.
Speaking shortly after presenting the award to the honouree, the former Kwara State governor said he would compensate Sagagi with the sum of N1m in order to encourage others to do good for humanity.
The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Media Trust Group, Malam Ahmed Shekarau, expressed appreciation to the former Senate President for fulfilling the pledge, noting that the gesture would further encourage the honouree and other Nigerians to continue rendering humanitarian services to underprivileged citizens.
