FCTA signs agreement for developing Jabi Lake into recreational hub
The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has signed development agreements with Suburban Broadband Limited and Akida Hills Limited to create a world-class recreational hub in the heart of Abuja.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, described Abuja as a fast-developing city and a perfect location for recreation.
However, he lamented that the pace of development had been slowed by land speculators who hold onto land without developing it.
The Minister stressed that it is no longer “business as usual” for those hoarding and speculating on government land.
He issued a stern warning: “For those that have applied for land for development, they must get it done. If it is not done within the next six months, we will revoke it.”
The representative of Suburban Broadband Limited, Mr. Pankaj Khandelwal, stated that the agreement marks an important milestone for their organization. He noted that the project is a significant investment that will drive socioeconomic growth and create jobs within the FCT.
Similarly, the representative of Akida Hills Limited, Mr. Bamisile Olukayode, commended the Minister’s courage in spearheading major developmental tasks. He described the Jabi Lake project as “exciting,” promising that it would be comparable to New York’s Times Square and the Dubai Fountain Water Show, effectively turning Abuja into a premier destination city.
He assured stakeholders that the development would place Abuja among the world’s elite cities, adding that the project is slated for completion before the end of the year.
