PHOTOS: Scenes from 2026 Edition of Argungu Fishing Festival
The 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival held in Kebbi State, attracting participants and visitors from across Nigeria and beyond.
The festival, recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, remains a major gathering that celebrates fishing traditions and the rich heritage of Kebbi State.
Held along the historic Matan Fada riverside in Argungu town, it featured many activities including boat racing, durbar processions, vibrant cultural performances and international catapulting competitions.
Organisers said the largest fish recorded in this year’s contest weighed 59 kilogrammes.
Speaking on Saturday as Special Guest of Honour during his visit to the state, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said the annual festival would be sustained to promote national unity, peace and agricultural development.
