Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca has admitted one of his biggest regrets following the Blues’ 3-1 defeat to Leeds United was not fielding Josh Acheampong.
Fabrizio Romano reported Maresca saying, “One of the regrets I have after Leeds is that I didn’t play with Josh Acheampong.” He added, “The reason why we played with Trevoh, Benoit, and Tosin was that we anticipated long balls to their strikers, but even then, we lost most of them.”
Chelsea’s Premier League title hopes suffered a major setback as lowly Leeds secured a shock victory at Elland Road on Wednesday, dealing a blow to Maresca’s side.
On the injury front, Maresca provided an update on Romeo Lavia, stating, “We don’t know when Roméo Lavia can be back. It’s a muscle problem. We don’t know whether it’s long- or short-term.”
Chelsea will look to bounce back in their next Premier League match against AFC Bournemouth away on Saturday.
