Liverpool manager Arne Slot has insisted there are “no reasons not to want Mohamed Salah to stay” at the club, amid growing speculation over the winger’s future. Slot said he will hold further talks with Salah on Friday morning to address the situation.
As reported by BBC Sport on Friday, Salah, 33, expressed frustration following Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Leeds, claiming he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club and was subsequently left out of the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Inter Milan. Speaking to reporters at Elland Road, Salah said he had “earned his place” in the team.
Reaffirming his support for the Egypt international, Slot said: “I have no reason to not want him to stay. I will have a conversation with Mo. The outcome of that conversation determines how things will look [on Saturday].”
Liverpool ARE preparing to host Brighton at Anfield on Saturday as they aim to bounce back from successive Premier League draws. Salah, who signed a new two-year contract in April, has scored 250 goals in 420 appearances for the Reds.
However, he has been an unused substitute in two of the last three league games. His last start came in the 26 November Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven, while he last appeared as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Sunderland on December 3.
