We’ll win 2027 presidential election convincingly – APC chair
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has expressed confidence that the ruling party will retain the presidency and win many more states in the 2027 general elections.
Prof. Yilwatda spoke yesterday in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the Women Leaders Support Advancement, a political advocacy group championing increased participation of women in governance.
He explained that his submission was sequel to the growing nationwide acceptance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
He said, “Our party is fully prepared for the future, and by the grace of God, the APC will win convincingly in 2027.”
He maintained that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda had broadened opportunities for women and young people, adding that the administration’s policies were in tune with Nigerians’ demand for more inclusive governance.
Why APC postponed NEC, caucus meetings
Meanwhile, the APC has postponed its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings earlier scheduled for December 15 to16, 2025.
The party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, announced the adjustment in a notice issued yesterday in Abuja but did not provide any official reason for the postponement.
He simply said the National Caucus meeting would now be held on December 18, while the NEC meeting had been rescheduled for December 19, 2025, adding that both meetings would take place at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
But top APC sources told Daily Trust that the shift was made to accommodate President Tinubu’s schedule and ensure his attendance.
One of the sources also linked the adjustments to the Osun APC governorship primary slated for December 13, noting that the party wanted to provide room for wider participation by key stakeholders.
In a telephone chat with our correspondent, the APC National Director of Publicity, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim, said, “Such changes are not unusual when organising high-level meetings that require the presence of top government officials.”
