Entrepreneurial education key to reducing unemployment – Experts
Education experts have identified entrepreneurial education among students of higher institutions as a major solution to the growing unemployment challenge facing graduates in Nigeria.
This formed part of the key discussions at the International Conference on Business, Finance and Entrepreneurship, organised by the Department of Business Administration, North Eastern University, Gombe, in collaboration with the Certified Institute of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Education.
Speaking at the event, a renowned academic from the Gombe State University, Professor Babangida M. Musa, said incorporating entrepreneurial reforms into students’ curriculum would equip them with the skills needed to survive what he described as the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
“Gone are the days when university graduates waited endlessly for white-collar jobs from the government. Students must be prepared to create opportunities rather than depend on them,” he said.
Also presenting at the conference, Professor Emmanuel Oki Umoru, Professor Nureddin Oyekola, and the Head of the Department of Business Administration at North Eastern University, Dr Abubakar Aliyu Dangana, stressed that entrepreneurship and mentorship are critical for the emerging generation.
