Bayelsa target Rangers’ scalp in Enugu

Bayelsa United make the trip to Enugu on Sunday (today), aiming to extend their impressive unbeaten run when they face Rangers International in a Nigeria Premier Football League matchday 16 fixture that promises intensity at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.

The Prosperity Boys arrive with growing belief after a 1-1 draw against Katsina United, a result that stretched their run without defeat to five matches and underlined their steady rise in confidence under coach Meremu Okara.

Bayelsa’s recent form, built on two wins and three draws, has been anchored on renewed defensive discipline and purposeful attacking transitions.

Their compact structure has frustrated opponents in recent weeks, and they will look to impose the same resilience against a Rangers side renowned for their aggression on home soil.

For Okara’s team, leaving Enugu with at least a point would serve as another marker of progress as they continue to climb the table.

Rangers, however, present a formidable challenge in front of their supporters.

The Coal City side remains one of the league’s most reliable home performers and will seek to reassert control after last weekend’s 2-1 loss to Enyimba in the oriental derby.

Despite this, Bayelsa’s current form makes them a more dangerous opponent than earlier in the campaign, with their transition play and defensive shape expected to trouble Rangers.
