Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, has accused Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, of reneging on the agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu in June 2025 over their political differences, vowing to spill out details of the peace deal to the people of the state.
He stated this yesterday while addressing the people of Tai Local Government Area of Rivers.
Wike said, “Very soon, we will let the people of Rivers State know what we agreed on before Mr President” advising the residents of Tai not to deal with duplicitous people who cannot keep their promises in the name of politics.
The minister, who said he was not in the community for politics but to thank the people of Tai for standing with him and Tinubu, said the Rivers people were battle ready for 2027 elections and warned that money would not work in the state.
“It was a tough battle in 2023. You took a risk, worked with us and God gave us victory. See what the risk had resulted to – a federal university sited in Tai and many other benefits,” Wike said.
One of those who spoke at the political gathering was Senator Barry Mpigi, APC -Rivers South East, thanked President Tinubu and Wike for their support for the senatorial district saying, the people never had it this good.
Also, Mr. Bernard Nbar, who represents Tai Constituency in Rivers Assembly, assured Wike of the continued support of his constituents.
Chairman of Tai Council, Mbakpone Okpe, thanked Wike for the interactive visit to Tai people.
He described the minister’s directive to vote Tinubu in 2023 as a blessing following the good things that have continued to follow his people.
In Eleme Local Government Area of the state, he declared that the decision made during peace agreement must stand.
This was as the former governor of Rivers State said he would soon reveal the peace agreement reached between him and Fubara.
He disclosed that part of the decision was to support Tinubu’s reelection for a second term and correct the leadership mistake at the state level.
He said that no amount of money would change their course, stressing “we have done it before and we are going to do it again. We are prepared; we have made a decision and we are not going back. I want you to be strong. Nobody will intimidate us.”
