
Woman stabs 7-year-old girl to death in Rivers
A woman, identified as Success, has stabbed a seven-year-old girl, Alicia Olajumoke, to death at Okabia Street, Agip Estate in the Rumueme area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
She also stabbed herself in the throat after attacking the child.
Although the cause of the incident is still unknown, residents told Daily Trust that the woman was well-known in the neighbourhood and was said to be related to the child’s mother.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Tuesday when the woman went to the child’s school, picked her up, took her to her apartment, and killed her.
Both the suspect and the victim were rushed to the hospital but were later confirmed dead.
The child’s mother, Glory Joseph, who reported the case to the police, said the woman had picked her daughter from school before carrying out the act.
Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday. She said the body of the child has been deposited in a morgue for autopsy, while investigation is ongoing.
