Man jailed 3 months for threatening mother in Kano
A Sharia Court sitting at Kofar Kudu, Kano Municipal, has sentenced Yusuf Habibu Sagagi to prison after finding him guilty of illegal possession of dangerous weapons, intimidation, and threatening his mother.
The defendant was arraigned on a three-count charge.
He pleaded guilty to all counts when the charges were read to him.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Shamsuddeen Ado Abdullahi Unguwargini, sentenced Sagagi to three months in a correctional facility without the option of a fine for the first count.
The court further ordered that upon completion of his custodial sentence, the convict shall be placed on a six-month community service bond. As part of his rehabilitation, he is required to attend an Islamiya school to study Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) under the supervision of court-appointed officials.
The court held that the sentence was intended to serve as both a punishment and a corrective measure, noting the gravity of the offences involving the intimidation of his mother with dangerous weapons.
