Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca described the period leading up to Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Everton as “the worst 48 hours” since he joined the club.
Speaking after the win at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, which saw goals from Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto, Maresca expressed frustration over a lack of support off the pitch.
“The way the players want to learn has been fantastic… with so many problems, they are doing very well after a complicated week.
“Since I joined the club, the last 48 hours have been the worst because many people didn’t support us,” Maresca said.
Maresca clarified that his comments were general and not aimed at fans, whom he praised, and highlighted Chelsea’s injury and suspension challenges. Key players like Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, and Liam Delap have missed multiple games this season, yet the squad continues to perform admirably.
The win lifted Chelsea back into fourth place in the Premier League table. The club now faces a Carabao Cup quarter-final at Cardiff and a league trip to Newcastle next week.
PUNCH Online had reported that Cole Palmer returned with a much-needed goal as Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, ending a run of four games without a win in all competitions.
