Property worth millions of naira was, on Thursday, destroyed by a fire incident at No. 1, Road 10, Adepoju Area of Ibadan in Oyo State.
The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Services Reform and Chairman of the state Fire Services, Moroof Akinwande, confirmed this in a statement in Ibadan, the state capital.
He explained that the incident was reported at exactly 11:23 am through Prince Ola that the house was on fire.
“The fire incident was reported at exactly 11:23hrs today (Thursday), December 4, 2025, through telephoning and Prince Ola to the house on fire at the above address.
“The firemen swiftly responded and deployed to the scene of the incident. Upon arrival, it was the first flat of twins, a three-bedroom private residential building engulfed by fire. Our officers quickly swung into action and prevented it from spreading to the second flat.
“The Federal Fire Service Ibadan Command later joined the state Fire Services and the fire was collectively extinguished,” Akinwande stated.
The chairman, therefore, advised the public to be conscious of fire, to always remove any appliance that is not in use from the wall socket.
He emphasised the importance of installing firefighting equipment in the respective houses and offices, to prevent incidents from just starting.
“Also report fire incident and give correct address, contact- our emergency lines: 08067439223 and 08054353501 or 615 ( Toll Free),” the chairman urged.
