Again, bandits invade FCT community, abduct 3 farmers
Barely a few weeks after bandits invaded Gidan-Bijimi community, Kawu Ward, in Bwari Area Council of the FCT and abducted six women and a teenage boy, gunmen have again attacked the community and kidnapped three farmers.
A resident, Moses Yakubu, said the bandits invaded the community on Sunday at about 10pm and whisked away three farmers: Yarima Williams, Mami Nuhu and Ebama Joshua, amid heavy gunfire.
Yakubu said vigilantes attempted to engage the bandits but were overpowered by the kidnappers’ superior firepower.
He further said, “In fact, the vigilantes wanted to confront the bandits, but they were unable to do so because they lacked sophisticated weapons.”
Yakubu added that contact was yet to be established with the abductors.
Our reporter learnt that the victims are prominent ginger farmers who earn significant incomes from their harvests.
The Village Head of Gidan-Bijimi, Paul Adamu, confirmed the incident.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said she would investigate the matter and revert.
